22-time Grand Slam（大满贯） champion Rafael Nadal ended his professional tennis career after the 38-year-old's 6-4, 6-4 loss to Botic van de Zandschulp, as Spain was eliminated by the Netherlands at the Davis Cup on Nov. 19.

The Fuxing power-concentrated EMU (electric multiple unit) passenger train will be launched between Korla City and Hami City in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region（新疆维吾尔自治区） on November 29, with tickets available online starting Nov. 22. It will be the first Fuxing service connecting southern and eastern Xinjiang.
“复兴号”动力集中型动车组将于11月29日在中国西北部新疆维吾尔自治区的库尔勒市和哈密市之间开通，11月22日开始在线售票。这将是第一条连接新疆南部和东部的复兴号列车。
The Fuxing CR200J EMU covers a one-way distance of 729 kilometers, accommodating up to（最多容纳） 720 passengers per train, and completing the one-way journey in approximately（大约） six hours.

Respected scholar of Chinese classical literature Chia-ying Yeh, passed away on Nov. 24 in Tianjin at the age of 100, according to Nankai University, where she worked for much of her life.
据南开大学消息，受人尊敬的中国古典文学学者叶嘉莹于11月24日在天津去世，享年100岁。叶嘉莹生前大部分时间都在南开大学工作。
Yeh was engaged in creating, researching and teaching Chinese poetry both in China and abroad, calling it her sole (唯一的) mission in life. She insisted on teaching even in her 90s, and videos of her lectures went viral（走红，在互联网上迅速传播） on Chinese social media platforms.
叶嘉莹在国内外从事中文诗歌创作、研究和教学，她称这是她一生唯一的使命。即使在90多岁的时候，她仍然坚持教书，她的讲课视频在中国的社交媒体平台上广受传播。

Chinese Super League champion Shanghai Port won its first ever CFA Cup (Chinese Football Association Cup，中国足协杯) title on Nov. 23, beating Shandong Taishan 3-1 in the 2024 final.

Shanghai Port became the fourth club to win both the domestic league and Chinese FA Cup titles in the same season, after Shandong Taishan, Dalian Shide and Guangzhou Evergrande.

A massive（非常严重的） fire tore through（快速穿过） a coastal shanty（棚屋） town in the Philippine capital on Nov. 24, leaving at least 2,000 families homeless as flames billowed（烟雾涌出） for nearly eight hours.
11月24日，菲律宾首都马尼拉的一个沿海棚户区发生大火。大火持续近8个小时，至少2000户家庭无家可归。
The Manila Fire District said around 1,000 houses were destroyed and roughly 8,000 people displaced in the blaze that broke out at 8 a.m. and burned until 4 p.m.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire but blazes in Manila slums（贫民窟） are often sparked by faulty electrical wiring or gas canisters（煤气罐）.

The 62-year-old actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai was recently awarded the honorary doctorate (荣誉博士学位) in humanities by the Hong Kong Universtiy of Science and Technology.

Alongside with Leung, there were also other three recipients (接受者), including American chipmaker Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang, 2013 Nobel Chemistry Prize winner, South African biophysist Michael Levitt and Fields Medal winner, American mathematician David Mumford.

The university held the conferment (授予、颁发) ceremony on Nov. 23. In recognition of their significant achievements and contributions to society, Dr Chan Zu-chak, Deputy Superintendent (主管人、负责人) of HKUST, conferred (授予) the doctorates on the four distinguished（杰出的） leaders.
