Horrifying Car - ramming Incident in Zhuhai Leaves 35 Dead and 43 Injured
On November 11, 2024, at around 7:48 pm, a terrifying and heinous car - ramming incident occurred in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. According to the police report released on November 12, this incident has led to the tragic death of 35 people after rescue efforts failed, and 43 others were injured and are currently hospitalized (with no immediate life - threatening conditions).
The police arrived at the scene promptly. The suspect, Fan (male, 62 years old, divorced), was immediately brought under control. On the day of the incident, Fan forced his way through the gate in a small off - road vehicle and barged into the city's sports center, crashing into citizens who were exercising on the internal roads of the sports center. When he attempted to flee in his vehicle, he was caught on the spot by the police officers who rushed to the scene. The officers found that Fan was self - harming with a knife in the car and immediately stopped him and sent him to the hospital for treatment. Fan had severe injuries to his neck and other parts due to self - harm and fell into a coma. At present, he is still receiving treatment and is temporarily unable to be interrogated by the police.
After comprehensively investigating the scene, examining video surveillance, collecting witness testimonies, and analyzing electronic evidence, the police have initially determined that the incident was triggered by Fan's dissatisfaction with the outcome of property division after his divorce. Currently, the police have filed a case against Fan for the crime of endangering public safety by dangerous means and have legally detained him in accordance with the law. The follow - up work such as the investigation of the case and the treatment of the wounded is currently in progress.
