The US-China Business Council (USCBC) is a private, non-profit organization of over 270 American companies that do business with China. Founded in 1973 following the first formal exchanges between the United States and China by a group of interested companies, USCBC’s mission is to expand the US-China commercial relationship to the benefit of its membership, and more broadly, the US economy. Through close collaboration between offices in Washington, DC, Beijing, and Shanghai, USCBC provides extensive China-focused information, advisory, and advocacy services, along with events, to its multinational member companies.
USCBC’s Shanghai office is seeking to hire a manager for business advisory services.
Business Advisory Services Manager

Primary Responsibilities
★
Research, analyze, and write on China-related commercial policies that impact the American business community;
In collaboration with other USCBC business units and offices, design, coordinate, and aid in coordinating and organizing USCBC programs and events, including planning and supporting USCBC's annual China Operations Conference;
Respond to individual member company requests for information on business and trade topics; proactively build and maintain contacts within USCBC member companies;
Write for USCBC publications, briefing papers, and talking points;
Prepare and present internally and externally on USCBC advocacy, business environment, and industry-specific policy developments;
Assist with developing USCBC advocacy positions; develop and maintain relationships with representatives from the U.S. consulate in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and other US gov agencies, US business associations, relevant US scholars, and think tanks;
Proactively assist with new member recruitment and fulfill membership retention obligations;
Coordinate intern hiring, scheduling, training, and daily assignments;
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications
★
High level of proficiency both in Mandarin and English (spoken and written)—candidates must be able to read and analyze Chinese-language policy documents, newspaper articles, etc.
An understanding of and ability to communicate the dynamics of the US-China trade relationship, the business environment, and China’s government structure; strong interest in researching, analyzing, and writing about China’s business, economic, and policy environment in a timely manner;
Follow regulatory developments in a variety of industries, and be able to respond to requests from member companies;
Excellent project and program management skills;
Ability to remain organized and detail-oriented;
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field (business, law, public policy/political science, etc.); graduate degree preferred;
A high degree of initiative, professionalism, sense of responsibility, and dedication to quality;
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills; sense of humor and ability to work in a small team;
Minimum two years’ work experience, preferably in China.
