Asian Financial Cooperation Association (AFCA) successfully held Green Belt and Road Financial Cooperation Forum 2024 in Jakarta on December 10, 2024 with the theme of “Promote Green Development in Jointly Building the Belt and Road”. The Forum was hosted by AFCA, co-organized by Bank of China Limited, HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited, China Galaxy Securities Co., Ltd., China Financing Guarantee Association. Over 100 representatives from more than 10 countries and regions attended the Forum.

Ms. Yang Liyu, Executive Deputy Secretary General of AFCA and Mr. Wu Zhiwei, Commercial Counselor of Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Indonesia delivered welcome speech. Ms. Wei Hanguang, General Manager of Corporate Banking Department of Bank of China, Mr. Wang Yunfeng, Deputy Chairman, President & CEO, HSBC Bank (China), Mr. Xue Baohua, Chairman of the Council of China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, General Manager of Pt China Taiping Insurance Indonesia, Mr. Chen Lin, Vice President of China Financing Guarantee Association participated in the Forum and delivered keynote speeches. The Forum was moderated by Mr. Fu Hao, Director of AFCA Belt and Road Financial Cooperation Committee, Vice Chair of Global Business Development Committee of Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The Forum presented AFCA Belt and Road Financial Service Information Platform and one of AFCA Annual Research Project (2024) —Cross Boarder Trading Financial Data Standard Research, and multiple AFCA members released and demonstrated the deliverables of their financial support for the construction of the Belt and Road.
The Forum held a panel discussion on “Investment and Financing Enabling the Belt and Road Construction, and Promoting Green Finance Cooperation Practices”. Speakers shared and discussed how financial institutions to empower the construction of the Belt and Road through high-quality financial services, including investment and financing, insurance and other ways to support enterprises in their globalization efforts,, as well as the practice of green finance in the process of the construction of the Belt and Road.
The conferences lasted for two days. The plenary meeting of the Belt and Road Financial Cooperation Committee and the Green Finance Cooperation Committee were held on the afternoon of 10 December. During these sessions, the representatives of members shared their experiences and practical cases in green Belt and Road financial cooperation, offering constructive suggestions for key works of the next year.
On the morning of December 11, AFCA facilitated a dialogue between the delegation and relevant institutions with local financial institutions and enterprises in Indonesia. Representatives of local institutions in Indonesia introduced the economic and financial situation of Indonesia, the general overview of financial institutions, the financial regulatory culture of Indonesia, as well as the compliance risks and localization challenges. Representatives of local enterprises in Indonesia, including ZTE Corporation, Chery Group and China Energy Engineering Corporation introduced the business environment in Indonesia and the opportunities and challenges. After the symposium, AFCA members expressed that the symposium had helped members gain an understanding of the local business environment and financial ecology in-depth, and promoted exchanges and cooperation between members and local companies. They also conveyed hopes that AFCA would continue serving as a platform for members to promote pragmatic cooperation with a view to achieving fruitful results.

In order to further promote members’ understanding of the fruitful achievements of China-Indonesia cooperation in construction the Belt and Road, and to provide more tailored services for members, AFCA organized the delegation to investigate the operation of the Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Railway on the afternoon of 11 December. Mr. Zhang Chao, Executive Director of Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Railway posted by China State Railway Group, introduced to the delegation the in-depth integration of Chinese high-speed railway standards with Indonesia’s actual situation, the cooperation between China and Indonesia in talent cultivation and technology transfer, and had deeply exchanges and communication with the delegation on the situation related to “Golden Bond” of Jakarta–Bandung in promoting people’s livelihood improvement, economic development, and regional interconnection and interconnection.

Indonesia is the first place where Chairman Xi Jinping proposed to build the “21st-Century Maritime Silk Road”. This forum and related conferences successfully demonstrated the fruitful results of China-Indonesia practical cooperation under the framework of high-quality co-construction of Belt and Road, and laid a good foundation for the next step of AFCA’s cooperation with members to promote high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road mechanism.
