Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) celebrates the inclusion of 11 of its scientists in Stanford University's prestigious World's Top 2% Scientists list, released on 16 September, 2024. This recognition, based on Scopus data as of 1 August, 2024, highlights the significant impact of XMUM's academic community.
The World's Top 2% Scientists list, compiled by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier, is widely regarded as a significant measure of a researcher's scientific impact. This ranking is derived from various citation metrics, including the h-index, co-authorship, and adjusted citation counts, to ensure a fair and comprehensive representation. The list is updated annually, reflecting both career-long contributions and single-year impacts to offer transparency and relevance.
The recognized scientists come from several Schools and Departments, including the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, Department of Physics, China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences, School of Foundation Studies, School of Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and School of Computing and Data Science.
XMUM is committed to high-impact research since its establishment, boasting a diverse faculty of about 300 full-time staff, over 80% of whom hold doctoral degrees. The university has produced over 1,670 publications in SCI-indexed journals, with notable achievements including 844 in Tier-1 journals like Science and Nature. Of these, more than 300 papers were authored by students, with 194 as first or corresponding authors.
