The CEIBS Global EMBA Building Bridges series successfully kicked off its world-spanning journey in Shenzhen, where we explored the dynamic relationship between China and Southeast Asia. Now, the conversation continues in Singapore for the second installment of this paired series. Attendees will gather in a city that stands as another prime example of how strengthening ties between China and ASEAN has created mutual benefits and opportunities for both sides.
About Building Bridges
Building Bridges is a 12-part series of events consisting of symposiums, dialogues, and seminars held in major cities across China and around the world. Each event will bring together CEIBS professors, expert analysts from industry, government and diplomatic channels, and leaders from both MNCs and Chinese companies. Together, they will explore the current geopolitical relationships, macro-economic factors, investment environment conditions, and the more general challenges and opportunities that define the business landscape between China and the world.
Their insights can help enterprises of every kind successfully navigate the complexities of international markets, by giving them a better grounding in what makes the relationship between China and other countries work, what may undermine it, and what we can do collectively to improve it.
Why Southeast Asia and China?
China and ASEAN are each other's largest trading partners. At the company level, the Southeast Asian market is increasingly attractive for Chinese firms, who are making cross-border ventures to secure growth in a culturally familiar and receptive region. Southeast Asian companies have also quickly grown in China, especially in consumer goods, tech, and e-commerce, leveraging partnerships and digital platforms like Alibaba. Singapore, itself a global financing powerhouse, is a gateway between the two entities, allowing trade, capital and cultural appreciation to flow in both directions.
The series’ inaugural event took place in Shenzhen, with an audience of 300 highly engaged participants. Under the theme of "Building Bridges," attendees, CEIBS professors, guest speakers, and panelists explored various key topics that showcased the growing connections between China and Southeast Asia. The event set the tone perfectly for this second installment.
The Singapore edition of the CEIBS Global EMBA Building Bridges will feature a keynote speech from one of CEIBS' brightest economics professors on the Chinese economy with insightful diagnosis, an in-depth dialogue between a CEIBS Professor and a representative from the life sciences and biotechnology industry, and a dynamic panel of alumni from various thriving industries, representing key drivers of economic growth.
