Event | CEIBS GEMBA "Building Bridges" - China & SEA Symposium

文摘   2024-08-07 16:06   上海

The CEIBS Global EMBA Building Bridges series is about to begin its world-spanning journey. Keeping things close to home, we’ve decided to start by exploring the relationship between China and the impressively diverse and vibrant countries that make up Southeast Asia. With the first paired events being hosted in Singapore and Shenzhen, attendees will begin the conversation in cities that represent two prime examples of how deepening ties between China and ASEAN have benefitted both sides.

Join us in Shenzhen on August 30, 2024 as we delve into the macroeconomic landscape, trade policies, and business environment of Southeast Asia. Government representatives, business leaders, and CEIBS professors will share their insights and experiences, providing valuable guidance for enterprises navigating this vibrant region.

About Building Bridges

Building Bridges is a 12-part series of events consisting of symposiums, dialogues, and seminars held in major cities across China and around the world. Each event will bring together CEIBS professors, expert analysts from industry, government and diplomatic channels, and leaders from both MNCs and Chinese companies. Together, they will explore the current geopolitical relationships, macro-economic factors, investment environment conditions, and the more general challenges and opportunities that define the business landscape between China and the world.

Their insights can help enterprises of every kind successfully navigate the complexities of international markets, by giving them a better grounding in what makes the relationship between China and other countries work, what may undermine it, and what we can do collectively to improve it.

Why start with Southeast Asia?

Southeast Asia has long been a critical hub on the "Maritime Silk Road," with China and ASEAN being each other's largest trading partners. As connectivity between the two entities accelerates, a substantial number of Chinese enterprises and investment institutions have entered the Southeast Asian market, making cross-border ventures into Southeast Asia an increasingly attractive avenue for Chinese companies seeking growth. Singapore, itself a global financing powerhouse, is a gateway between the two entities, allowing trade, capital and cultural appreciation to flow in both directions.

Equally, South China, with its mature supply chain, robust manufacturing base, policy support, rapidly developing cross-border e-commerce, and extensive foreign investment cooperation, is a tempting object of Southeast Asian companies’ expansion ambitions. It also plays a crucial role in guiding and supporting Chinese enterprises in their overseas ventures. Shenzhen itself is emblematic of the opportunities afforded by international trade and cooperation, as the city’s history places it right at the forefront of China’s reform and opening up efforts. It’s an important foreign trade city too, geographically close to Hong Kong and Macau, and it now leads Chinese manufacturing in its global outreach efforts.

For these reasons and more, the series’ inaugural event will take place in Shenzhen, followed swiftly by one hosted in Singapore. Under the theme of "Building Bridges", attendees, CEIBS professors and our guest speakers and panelists will explore the following:

• In-depth Analysis: A joint exploration of the macroeconomic landscape, trade policies, and business environment in Southeast Asia, revealing new trends and potential opportunities in regional cooperation.

• Practical Sharing: Government representatives and business leaders will share their hands-on experiences regarding the opportunities and challenges faced by enterprises operating in the region, providing valuable insights and guidance for participants whether they are based in China or ASEAN.

• Cultural Integration: Discussions will delve into cross-cultural management and global business strategies, addressing how to achieve efficient communication and collaboration across diverse cultures, helping enterprises overcome barriers and expand into new markets.
