详细内容

Changes in the global climate pose a substantial danger to human communities as well as natural ecosystems and have wide-ranging and significant effects on the environments in which people live, the activities that they engage in economically, and the operations of businesses (Abbass et al., 2022, IPCC, 2021, Lee et al., 2022a). To cope with the increasing climate and environmental risks, carbon neutrality or zero-net carbon emissions have become a key strategic goal to achieve a better and more sustainable human society and ecosystems (Lee and Lee, 2022).

In the context of global efforts to achieve carbon neutrality targets developing renewable energy, and realizing energy security are important development strategies for many countries. On the back of this, various related economic, energy, and environmental policies have been introduced. Evaluating the effectiveness and feasibility of these policies is now among the top priorities of economists and policymakers in every effort to maintain global sustainable development (see, for example, Li et al, 2023a; Zhang and Kong, 2022; Wang and Lee, 2023).

In addition, the most recent advances in expanding financial landscape and the development of digitalization have caught a lot of intense scholarly interest for their potential for a green and sustainable economy (Huong and Ha, 2023; Lee and Wang, 2022; Qin et al., 2023). Among these discussions, evidence has shown that sustainable finance and digital development provide a substantial effect on the achievement of the SDGs (Lee et al., 2022b; Li et al., 2023b; Du et al., 2023; Sun et al., 2023). However, knowledge is rather limited regarding how they impact the pathway to energy security. To cope with the increasing climate and environmental risks, a more detailed assessment of their role in affecting energy security still awaits further exploration.

Against this background, there is an urgent need to bring forward new research so as to understand how energy systems are impacted in the era of carbon neutrality. Thus, this special issue of Economic Analysis and Policy is devoted to articles that investigate in a novel way any topic related to new frontiers and solutions with policy implications on the pathway to energy security.

Specific Focus of the Special Issue:

·Policies on sustainable finance and renewable-energy-based climate solutions and their potential impacts;

·The effectiveness and feasibility of economic policies on energy security under a carbon neutrality scenario;

·Policy intervention, diffusion, and evaluation for the energy and environmental governance;

·Energy and environmental policies for the adaptation and mitigation of climate change;

·Ways to intensify energy security from economic, financial, and political perspectives;

·The roles of energy, finance, and infrastructure on energy poverty and policy implications;
