A 32-year-old Indian woman, Reena Kumar, was arrested for allegedly contaminating food with her urine, which she had been serving to a family in the Crossings Republik high-rise for the past eight years. The family had been experiencing unexplained liver issues for months, which they initially couldn’t link to any cause. After a series of health problems within the household, the family became suspicious of their cook's food and decided to secretly install a camera in the kitchen.

On October 14, the family discovered shocking footage, showing Kumar urinating into a utensil before preparing food, including chapatis, with the contaminated water. The wife of the businessman who employed Kumar filed a formal complaint with the police, stating that her family had been experiencing health complications for months. "Today, I found the video recording of her urinating in a utensil and thereafter preparing chapatis with it. We believe that this was going on for the past several months," the wife explained in her FIR.

Police began their investigation under Section 272 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with acts likely to spread diseases dangerous to life. When Kumar was arrested, she initially denied the accusations but remained silent when confronted with the video evidence. As questioning continued, she changed her statements before eventually admitting to the crime. Kumar revealed that she had been angry with the family for closely monitoring her work and criticizing her frequently, which led her to take revenge by contaminating the food.

While the police investigation is still ongoing, it appears that Kumar had only carried out this act at the family’s home, and no similar incidents have been reported at her other places of employment. Authorities are continuing to probe her motives and the full extent of the harm caused. Meanwhile, the family remains shocked and distressed by the betrayal after years of employing her.
