• If you’re looking to ski or snowboard this winter season, Sichuan has some okay places to hit the slopes. Taiziling might even be called decent by some!
• The facilities and equipment may not rival European or North American resorts, and the après-ski will likely leave you wanting, but many of them have hot springs near by, and are lots of fun. We’re lucky enough in Sichuan to be near Taiziling, with other good slopes near Altay (Xinjiang), Harbin (Heilongjiang), Beijing, or in the North East. Remember to check out possible discounts on Taobao.com, Ctrip.com or Dazhong Dianping (ask your Chinese friend) before you go.

Getting to Mount Jiuding
You can take the high-speed railyway to Maoxian, the resort shuttle or a regular bus to get there.
There are regular high-speed trains to Maoxian 茂县 from East Railway Station, but you will still have to hail a car which costs around 200RMB, and take 80mins to Taiziling.
The shuttle is from Xinnanmen Station (6:40), South Railway Station Exit E (7:00), Taipingyuan (7:15) or Culture Palace Exit D1 (7:30), round day trip tickets are 118 RMB. Return from Taiziling parking before 16:40. Booking can through their resort Mini-Program (see below).
There now is a high-speed railyway connection to Maoxian, the other option is the bus leaves from Chadianzi Bus Station 茶店子汽车站 to Maoxian every hour and a half from 7am daily. The tickets are 62RMB. The bus will drop you at a petrol station at the bottom of Jiuding Shan 九鼎山. Then taxis or minivans will be waiting to take you to the top of the mountain for about 40RMB per person. Near the top of the mountain, you have to buy a mountain pass which costs 70RMB. Student passes are 35RMB.

When you purchase the ticket, you can buy a day insurance for 10RMB.
Additional to renting helmets, you can also rent salopettes and ski jackets.

TaiziLing ski resort Mini-Program
Emei Mountain Leidongping Ski Resort
峨眉山雷洞坪滑雪场
Sichuan’s oldest ski resort in Leidongping park has lots of facilities families and beginners, though can get very busy, especially during holidays. The resort has an altitude of 2500m and covers ski fields of almost 10 kilometers.
There are three levels of slopes and several snowboard trails, with heights of up to 120 meters.

Getting there
By train – You can take a train from South Railway Station 火车南站 or Chengdu East Railway Station 成都东站 to Emei(Shan) 峨眉山. This takes approximately 1h20min and costs around 60RMB. From Emei Train Station, you can take a taxi or Didi to Mount Emei Scenic Spot. This will take approximately 15 minutes and cost you around 20RMB.
By bus – There are daily buses arriving every 30 minutes starting from 7:00 am. They run from Xinnanmen to the Emei Tourism Center, which is about a five minute drive away from the entrance of Mount Emei. There are also many buses from Chengdu North Railway Bus Station or Pidu station to the Juizhu Long Distance Passengers Transportation Centre, which is about 6 km from Mount Emei. Once at Mount Emei, there is a shuttle bus from the bottom of the mountain to Leidongping which costs 90RMB for a ticket (return included). There are three different departure stations: High speed railway, Huangwan station and Baoguo Temple Station.
Accommodation
Because of the proximity of Emei’s ski resort to nearby tourist spots, there are countless hotels and hostels available to book on Trip.com and other booking websites.
Price
Access to the mountain is 160RMB per person (110RMB per person from December 15 to January 15), half price for students. Skiing is then priced 120RMB per hour including skis.
Helmets, boots and other gear can also all be rented.
Best time to go
Between October to March there is usually snow fall up to 100cm.
Zhegu Mountain Ski Park
鹧鸪山自然公园滑雪场
This ski resort is located in Zhegushan Nature Park, with an altitude of 3000-4000 and 98km away from Bipenggou Ski Resort. Around early November every year, Zhegushan Ski Resort will officially open to travelers. Three different heights of ski tracks are provided here.

Getting there
By car – if you drive from Chengdu to Zhegu Mountain，take high way will be about 4hours.
By bus – The bus leaves from Chadianzi Bus Station 茶店子汽车站 to Xuecheng 薛城 every hour and a half from 7:20am daily. The tickets are 57-62RMB.

Best time to go
Between November to March there is usually snowfall up to 100cm.

Xiling Snow Mountain Ski Resort
西岭雪山滑雪场
Some have remarked this resort is more like an amusement park with snow, than a place with serious ski trails. Along side more traditional skiing you can also rent snowmobiles, sledges and play winter games.

Getting there
There are mixed reviews about the snow coverage in Xiling Snow Mountain, so be sure to call ahead and check conditions before you travel. Buses run from Xinnanmen Bus Station 新南门车站, Chadianzi Bus Station 茶店子车站 and East City Bus station 成都东客站 to Xiling XueShan and take two to three hours.

Ski equipment or Ski clothes rental begins from 30RMB to 50RMB per garment.
There is no need to book ahead as they have 2000 sets of skis and a fleet of 35-40 snowmobiles.
Best time to go
There is 60-80cm of snow between December and March, and the opening hours are 9:00am – 17:00pm.
There are some night skiing options between 19:30am and 21:30pm if you don’t mind braving the dark.
Sunac Snow World
都江堰融创雪世界
（又名 成都热雪奇迹）
Chengdu Sunac Snow Park in Dujiangyan has a total area of about 80,800 square meters and is the world’s largest indoor ski resort. There are six different levels of ski trails and two terrain parks here and can receive 5000 people skiing each day.
Relatively close to Chengdu, with various entertainment activities (incl. a water park) and shows make it a very popular place for a group of friends and families to go.

Other Options
There are other options for skiing and other snow sports in Sichuan, such as Guangyuan Zengjia Mountain 广元曾家山滑雪场, Aba Bipenggou 毕棚沟 (3.5 hours by car from Chengdu), Dujiangyan Longchi Forest Park 龙池国家森林公园 and Qixiagou Skiing Resort 阿坝奇峡沟滑雪场 in Songpan (six kilometers from Huangsheng Pass Station — the shortest distance from a skiing resort to an express train railway station in Sichuan).

Xindu JF Dry Slope Skiing
新都尖锋旱雪四季滑雪场
Located in Majia Town, Xindu District, the Jianfeng Dry Skiing Ground is the largest one in Southwest China.
This skiing ground covers an astounding area which people can ski in year-round. It covers a staggering 40,000 square meters with the skiing track being about 15,000 square meters.
There's 10+ dry ski slopes to choose from, with varying levels of difficulty ranging from the very basic slope for beginners through intermediate and advanced. They even have a few slopes with a big jump where professionals can do tricks. Even Gu Ailing practiced here!
