• Good news for your friends and loved ones, paying a visit to Chengdu again became a lot easier. With the new 10-day, visa-free transit permit, people can spend more than a week in our beautiful city and dip their toes into a little Sichuan food and culture.
• China has been on a roll in the tourism department this year, granting visa-free travel and 72/ 144 hours visa-free transit to a host of new countries and regions, as well as expanding eligible port cities where those transiting are allowed to enter.
• Today (17/12/2024) China announced a significant relaxation of its visa-free transit policy, extending the permitted stay for eligible foreign travelers from the original 72 and 144 hours to 240 hours, or 10 days. Effective immediately, 21 additional ports have been designated for visa-free entry and exit, and the areas in which transit travelers can stay have been expanded, according to a statement from National Immigration Administration.
• The applicant must be a citizen of one of the following 54 countries that are eligible for the visa-free transit policy. Note that you need a confirmed air ticket to a third country. The 240 hours visa-free transit includes travel within most of China. That means that trips to other cities in China are possible with this type of visa.
