The Royal Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou is looking for a full time Visa and Consular Officer to join the Consulate General’s visa team. Please note that this position is on locally employed conditions and open for Danish and EU/Schengen country nationals only.
The Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou is the regional visa hub for China and Japan responsible for issuing all short-term visas to the Kingdom of Denmark.
Job description
Main tasks and responsibilities
Examination of Schengen visa- and residence permit applications and the related documentation
Registering of applications in the relevant IT systems
Written correspondence with applicants and other members of the public
Final case processing, incl. interviews of the applicants and decision-making responsibilities
Answering phone calls regarding visa issues
Contact to MFA colleagues, the Danish Immigration Service and other relevant stakeholders/authorities
About you
Must be Danish or EU/Schengen citizen
Must have a clean criminal record and obtain a Police Clearance Certificate; the Danish authorities will also perform a background check
Relevant higher education and/or relevant work experience
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently and efficiently
Ability to work as part of a team and to assist Danish and Chinese citizens with various matters
Excellent written and spoken English
Experience from working in a cross-cultural environment is an advantage
Assertive personality and ability to maintain competent case handling and a smile in difficult situations
Flexible towards work tasks and working hours
Experience from living in China, or current residency in China, and/or knowledge of Chinese language and culture is an advantage

Employment conditions
You will be offered full time employment on a local contract based on the relevant legally binding labour market rules of China
Your standard working hours will be 40 hours per week including one-hour lunch with flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours
You will be entitled to 20 days of paid holiday per year. In addition, you will be entitled to a number of paid local holidays
Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results in accordance with the Danish China Missions’ salary policy
