The high-end residential component of the Fuzhou River City mixed-use development by leading property company Kerry Properties was recently launched to the public.
Fuzhou River City is a new commercial, retail and residential development that has community, wellbeing and curiosity at its core. Boasting sparkling waterfront views, the development integrates contemporary working and living through its design. Hassell provided interior design services for the public spaces of retail mall, office tower and apartments.

Hassell Senior Associate Razvan Ghilic-Micu was invited to attend the launch event and speak about how places can foster community and how this can be achieved through design. He also spoke about Hassell's design concept for the project, for which the team drew on the idea of gradients and evoking the layering effect of the natural beauty of the development’s surrounding area and Fuzhou’s historical heritage.

“We drew heavily from the Minjiang River, Gushan Mountain, and the city’s rich historical heritage. These elements are not just decorative; they’re integral to how the space feels and functions,” said Razvan.

“For example, in the office lobby, we suspended a large scroll that depicts the river and mountains. This isn’t just an art piece—it’s a daily reminder of the nature that connects everyone who enters that space. It anchors the community in a shared experience of nature, even within an urban setting,” said Razvan.

Fuzhou River City is also partnering with Forbes Life, which will have an event space in the development, and the launch event was jointly branded.
