【双语】翻译导师致辞｜李懿：翻译是作家的好搭档

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

I’m Li Yi, a translator, and a teacher from Fishing Fortress Science Fiction College. I had my hair cut last week. I think it is pretty cool. And to feel more cool, I got this tattoo, but rest assured, this is temporary. I am not breaking the rules of the college. Anyway, I got this tattoo to go with my hairstyle.

And I'd like to talk about this, because “To go with” is a very important thing we do when we work together toward a mutual goal. And in this Future Fiction Workshop, my five colleagues and I, as well as eight interpreters from outside, will go with all of you, from the beginning to the end of this event. We will shoulder the tasks of translating the works created by students and help with the communications between mentors and students.

尊敬的领导、敬爱的老师、亲爱的学员们，大家晚上好。

我叫李懿，是重庆移通学院钓鱼城科幻学院的老师，也是一名译者。我在上周的时候剪了头发，因为我想让自己看起来酷酷的，我还给自己搞了个文身，这是一次性的文身，我也没有打算违反学校的任何规定。我搞这个文身是为了搭我的发型。

“搭”这个字，在汉语中常用的有两个含义，一是用在“搭配”“搭档”里，含有“合作”的意思；二是用在“搭建”中，含有“创造”的意思。未来小说工坊邀请了五位国际大师，向各位以中文写作的学员授课，这当中必然存在一些语言方面的问题，我们翻译团队就是来跟大家一起合作，共同创造的。整个翻译团队负责两方面的工作，一是将各位学员的作品翻译成英文，笔译的工作由钓鱼城科幻学院的六名英语老师完成；另一部分是英文授课内容的交替传译以及日常的陪同口译，这是由外请的八位口译老师完成的。

On behalf of all the translators and interpreters, I want to emphasize the critical role we play in this collaborative endeavor. Our mission is to ensure that every story, idea, and insight is conveyed accurately and eloquently, regardless of the language in which it was originally conceived. Translation is not just about converting words from one language to another; it’s about capturing the essence of the narrative, the nuances of the characters, and the vision of the author. So We go with the spirit of the story and render it in a new language.

Interpreting, similarly, goes beyond mere language conversion. It’s about facilitating understanding, creating a bridge between different cultures and perspectives, and ensuring that communication flows seamlessly. Our goal is to make sure that every participant can fully engage, freely share their thoughts, and contribute to the rich tapestry of ideas that this workshop aims to weave. Surely We go with every conversation, making sure it resonates across languages.

说到翻译这项工作，近年来由于AI的快速发展，很多人都会认为，翻译是否会被AI取代，当然，不只是翻译，很多行业都受到了冲击。我作为一个译者，想要骄傲地告诉大家，各位学员，以及各位导师所创作的领域，关于文学的翻译领域，是整个翻译场景下我们人类能够坚守的最后的阵地。因为在文学的字面意思之外，还有作者的情感，作者的思想，这些都是AI目前还不能理解的。

口译也是一样。社会中每个人一开口，就必然代表自己所属的群体，例如年龄群体、身份群体——比如我现在就在代表译者群体发言。不同群体的人，在沟通时体现出的语言差异，实际上是文化的差异，这个差异是口译员要去尽力弥补的。同时，对话中除了口头语言之外，还有身体语言（比如我使用意大利人的手势说话，大家一定知道我在模仿哪个国家的人），包括脸上的表情这种“微语言”，都是目前的AI还无法破译的。总的来说，就是我们译者很重要。

This team of translators and interpreters are here to support. We will go with you and commit ourselves to making sure that language is never a barrier, but rather a bridge for communication and collaboration. We will work behind the scenes, during sessions, and in all interactions to ensure that all your voices are heard and understood.
