Background and Motivations:

Climate change (CC) and the effort to mitigate has a land use and policy dimension. It is a cross-disciplinary challenge. Hence, taking a land use policy dimension to climate adaptation and mitigation is crucial for sustainable climate actions. Hence, land governance (including land management, land administration and land policy) should be a major component of research targeted at addressing CC concerns. In this regard, all forms of knowledge matter. Therefore, viewpoints, review articles and research (including case studies) focusing on but not limited to the following themes are invited:

• Climate policy in the context of land policy/management/administration and property sciences.

• Urban/peri-urban/rural land development efforts related to climate change.

• Legal, socioeconomic, physical, political, cultural and spatial planning aspects of climate change.

• Gender, youth and women’s climate change experience.

• Information technology and artificial intelligence applied to or designed for climate action.

• Land tenure and land tenure security linked to climate change.

• Water and forest resources management.

• Land-use planning and climate change.

• Land tools for global change and climate action.

• Behavioural and social changes in the context of land and climate change.

• Housing development/delivery and climate change.

• Cross-disciplinary (i.e., multi- inter- and trans-disciplinary) research themes and case studies.

• topics embedded within or around land and climate governance -e.g., SDGs, Agenda 2063, new urban agenda, forestry, environment, space, technology, health, quality of life, community development, restoration, and biodiversity.

All submissions deemed suitable to be sent for peer review will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Once your manuscript is accepted, it will go into production, and will be simultaneously published in the current regular issue and pulled into the online Special Issue. Articles from this Special Issue will appear in different regular issues of the journal, though they will be clearly marked and branded as Special Issue articles.
