陈希，康奈尔大学应用经济学博士，耶鲁大学健康政策与经济学副教授。他将因果推断、机器学习和深度学习、流行病学等方法广泛应用于中国、美国、欧洲的医疗健康大数据，评估人口老龄化、全生命周期健康、全球医疗健康体系的公共政策。他担任联合国咨询顾问、世界银行咨询顾问，德国IZA劳动经济研究所研究员，全球劳工组织的环境与人力资本研究组组长，Journal of Population Economics联合主编，China CDC Weekly海外编委，美国国立卫生研究院Butler-Williams学者、Claude D. Pepper学者，美国国家科学基金会、美国国立卫生研究院外部评审人，康奈尔大学健康经济中心高级研究员，北京大学全球健康发展研究院兼职教授。他曾任中国卫生政策与管理学会会长。获得人口经济学Kuznets奖、George F. Warren应用经济研究奖。他主持的学术研究迄今129篇发表于科学、医学、经济学期刊并被全球媒体广泛报道。
讲座简介
Following rapid global aging, worldwide people live with dementia is projected to more than triple by 2050, rising particularly in low-income and middle-income countries (LMIC) where around two-thirds of people with dementia live. Dementia affects individuals, their families, and the economy, with global costs estimated above US$1 trillion annually. However, there has been no consensus about whether and to what extent (timely) dementia diagnosis should be implemented in the healthcare systems. Putting together US nationally representative longitudinal surveys and Medicare claims data, this study provides latest and comprehensive assessments on the health, healthcare, economic and financial effects of (timely) dementia diagnosis. We show reduced risk of patient mortality, improved financial decision-making and better management of financial assets, while no significant effect is observed on medical spending. Potential mechanisms involve increased care receipt but no improved disease management.
