Recently, recommended by the Hainan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Provincial Department of Transportation, the Hainan Round-Island Scenic Drive, applied by Hainan Transportation Investment Co., Ltd., has stood out among numerous national applications and has been selected as one of the second batch of demonstration cases for the integrated development of transportation and tourism.
It is reported that to better promote the integrated development of transportation and tourism, recently, six departments including the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Transport, the National Railway Administration, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the State Post Bureau, and China Railway Group Limited have jointly selected 68 demonstration cases for the integrated development of transportation and tourism. The Hainan Round-Island Scenic Drive is the only selected demonstration case in the province.
According to the introduction, the Hainan Round-Island Scenic Drive was fully opened to traffic on December 18, 2023. The main line is 988 kilometers long, running through 12 coastal cities and counties including Haikou, Wenchang, Qionghai, and Wanning, passing through 9 categories of 84 scenic areas, and seamlessly connecting with the round-island high-speed railway, expressways, national and provincial trunk lines, etc., initially forming a "pearl necklace" that strings together many beautiful scenes of the island. Together, they build a "fast entry, slow tour" tourism transportation system for Hainan, which is an important infrastructure for promoting the integrated development of transportation and tourism in the Province and is a national tourism road project in the national "13th Five-Year" tourism development plan.
