On November 18, 2024, the Haikou Tourism & Investment Promotion (Dublin) event was successfully held at the InterContinental Hotel in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. Themed around "Haikou, Capital of International Performing Arts," the event invited over 80 attendees, including representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Ireland, Dublin City Hall, Wicklow County Council, Tourism Ireland, the Irish Chamber of Commerce for Chinese Enterprises, the Irish Federation of Business Associations, local Dublin universities, Hainan Airlines, and other related enterprises, as well as representatives from Irish travel agencies and the Irish film industry. Mr. Yang Tong, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ireland, and Daryl Barron, a Dublin City Councillor, attended and addressed the event.
At the promotion event, Wang Ke, Director of the Haikou Municipal Bureau of Tourism, Culture and Sports, introduced the advantageous policies granted by the state for the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port. He elaborated on Haikou's innate advantages and policy foundations in terms of international cultural exchanges as the core area of the Free Trade Port, and highlighted the convenient conditions and service guarantees for hosting international large-scale cultural performances. Wang Ke pointed out that Hainan is the only socialist characteristic free trade port in China, and the state has endowed the Hainan Free Trade Port with the development positioning of "three zones and one center," with the international tourism consumption center being the central goal, providing a solid policy guarantee for opening international cultural exchange channels. The Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government strongly support Haikou in building a "Capital of International Performing Arts," continuously strengthening integrated innovation and efficient allocation of resources in terms of administrative approval, project funds, land, talent, and technology, and introducing preferential financial incentives to enhance the competitiveness of the cultural and performing arts industry. Haikou, with "quality service" as its city marketing point, integrates resources from the tourism, culture, sports, and entertainment industries, launching a comprehensive set of service for visitors that integrates food, accommodation, transportation, travel, shopping, and entertainment, enhancing the sense of participation and gain. The successful hosting of many international high-quality performing art events, such as Kanye West's world tour audition, Charlie Puth's concert tour, and the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra concert, has further established Haikou's image as a "Capital of International Performing Arts."
Wang Ke expressed the hope that this promotion event would serve as an opportunity to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in tourism, culture, performing arts, film, and television, build a free and convenient interactive platform, promote in-depth exchanges between well-known performance agencies, venue operators, and artistic groups from both countries, integrate high-quality performing arts resources, and continue to promote the brand of Haikou, jointly contribute to the objective of "Performing Arts Capital."
Guo Feng, Chairman of Yu Lele (Hainan) Film and Television Culture Co., Ltd., shared the driving effect of film and television works on Haikou's "tourism + film" industry, deeply analyzed how film and television works can activate Haikou's tourism market, and explored in-depth cooperation and exchange with relevant film companies in Dublin, looking for resource exchange and transformation, playing a superimposed effect, and jointly promoting the development of the film industry.
Wen Shuangwen, a Hainanese Irish student and the chairman of the Irish Chinese Students and Scholars Association, shared her perspective on Haikou at the meeting and offered unique insights and suggestions for the linkage between Dublin and Haikou.
This promotion event is the first time Haikou has held an investment promotion activity abroad with "performing arts" as the theme. It is a comprehensive summary and effective display of Haikou's efforts in recent years to fully build a "Capital of International Performing Arts" and explore a differentiated development path that integrates tourism and culture. It has laid a good foundation for enhancing Haikou's cultural influence, strengthening international communication, and promoting the external integration of the international performing arts and film and television industries.
