Recently, "Haikou Volcano Lychee" and "Dapo Pepper" have been selected for the "Belt and Road" Geographical Indication Brand Promotion List by the China National Intellectual Property Administration. Their brand history, brand characteristics, and brand advantages are continuously promoted on the "Belt and Road" Intellectual Property Cooperation website in both Chinese and English. This move will once again enhance the influence and reputation of Haikou's regional brands.
"Haikou Volcano Lychee" has become an important symbolic agricultural product of the provincial and municipal agricultural product regional public brands "Hainan Fresh Products" and "Meet in Haikou", including varieties such as "Lychee King," "Feizixiao," and "Seedless Lychee." In 2019, "Haikou Volcano Lychee" was awarded the "National Geographical Indication Certification Trademark" by the China National Intellectual Property Administration; in 2020, it was selected for the list of China's characteristic agricultural product advantage areas (fourth batch); in 2023, it was selected as one of the national second batch of geographical indication-assisted rural revitalization typical cases.
Pepper is a specialty of Dapo Town in Qiongshan District of Haikou. Currently, Dapo Town has 39,600 mu of pepper cultivation and has the largest modern continuous pepper production base in the country. In 2016, "Dapo Pepper" was awarded the geographical indication certification trademark by the China National Intellectual Property Administration; in 2018, it received the agricultural product geographical indication from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs; in 2019, it received the agricultural product geographical indication registration certificate from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and in 2021, it was selected for the first batch of national geographical indication utilization promotion key lists by the China National Intellectual Property Administration; in August 2024, the China National Intellectual Property Administration released the 2024 Geographical Indication Protection Project Implementation List, and "Dapo Pepper" became the only selected project in Hainan Province.
