"Although I also have the potential to become a scientific researcher, deep down in my heart, I still believe that I am more suited to being an artist. In the first semester after I started studying at ISA School, I became deeply fascinated by AP Psychology and Music Theory courses. It turns out that music is not just a purely emotional art form. Instead, it serves as a bridge that can integrate scientific thinking and artistic accomplishment across different fields. The major I finally chose to apply for, Music Technology, perfectly combines my passion for music with my strengths in science. This enabled me to stand out during the highly competitive application season for prestigious universities." Oscar said.

In order to meet the stringent requirements of the Music Technology major at New York University, Oscar meticulously prepared a series of portfolios. These works included violin performances, which demonstrated his solid musical foundation; music arrangements in different styles, highlighting his outstanding creative talent; the combination of game background music and score composition, showcasing his innovative thinking; and the creation of a music synthesizer through programming, reflecting his technical proficiency. These unique and innovative works are not only a powerful testament to his professional abilities but also a reflection of his in-depth contemplation of the power of music.

"Rehearsing with my classmates in the ISA School orchestra always makes me feel that I've gained a great deal. There are many students at ISA School who aim to apply to the Royal College of Music in the UK and Berklee College of Music. Rehearsing with these instrumental music experts always brings me new inspiration for music arrangement and motivation for learning. I really enjoy the process of striving and growing together with everyone for our musical dreams."

Moreover, the university's powerful alumni resources and strong cohesion within the music industry made Oscar feel that he had boundless possibilities for the future.

"The path of studying abroad requires more careful choices than just hard work. A diligent and down-to-earth attitude towards learning is the foundation of success," said Ms. Shen, who runs the College Counseling Center at ISA Wuhan. Oscar actively participates in charity activities, and the opportunity stems from the precious chances provided by the ISA Charity Fund. With a willingness to give it a try, he and his classmates embarked on a volunteer teaching trip to Beijing Pugongying School in July last year. Most of the students in this school for children of migrant workers have limited financial resources, and some of them even have intellectual disabilities, which makes the volunteer teaching process extremely challenging.

At first, the teaching plans that Oscar and his classmates had carefully prepared were difficult to implement because the students showed little interest, and the project was even on the verge of being cancelled at one point. However, Oscar and the volunteers from ISA did not give up. Oscar gave full play to his expertise in music and managed to get closer to the students through music games.

"I hope that they can also feel the beauty brought by music just like me and establish an optimistic attitude towards learning and self-confidence. Therefore, I organized the children to paint freely according to the music and carry out a relay activity. In this way, music can become a bond connecting our hearts, enhancing mutual understanding, and ensuring the steady progress of the subsequent volunteer teaching work," Oscar said.

Before assuming the position as the Head of the Life Department of the Student Union, Oscar was already a member of the department. His rich experiences in public welfare have endowed him with a stronger sense of responsibility, prompting him to actively demonstrate leadership in the work of the Life Department. He has planned a number of activities, covering aspects such as soliciting opinions on the school cafeteria, collecting suggestions for wake-up bells, and arranging fish tanks in the dormitory buildings, which have significantly improved the campus life experience of his schoolmates.
