RCD ESPANYOL ACADEMY SHANGHAIAs one of the finest academies of RCD Espanyol on the international stage, the academy is dedicated to spreading and developing the Spanish football philosophy and training methods. It strictly follows the youth training system of RCD Espanyol, providing high-quality football training for children. Here, regardless of the child's football skill level, football-loving kids can find suitable training and competition programs, enjoying the joy of the sport and the passion of Spanish-style football. The Dream Cradle of Football Enlightenment - Recreation Class
It is essential for beginners to develop a love for football as a team sport and to ignite their passion for team competition. This is especially important for children in the basic class.
Focus on the application of football skills
In the training curriculum for the basic class, each session includes multiple segments to ensure that the participants develop comprehensively in both skills and practical application.
Typically, the first 20 minutes focus on individual technical exercises, helping children build a solid skills foundation. Through repeated practice of basic techniques such as passing, ball control, dribbling, and shooting, the participants can gradually enhance their individual abilities.
The next 40 minutes are divided into two 20-minute technical confrontation practices, designed to simulate real match situations. During this process, coaches guide the players on how to effectively apply their skills during confrontations, enhancing their ability to handle different scenarios and opponents in actual games.
The final 15 to 20 minutes consist of group matches, allowing children to experience the joy of competition in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
In the training, by arranging small group challenges and team matches, the sessions not only become more enjoyable and competitive but also help children better understand the importance of teamwork. At the same time, children can learn basic football skills such as passing, shooting, and defending in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The format of group confrontations encourages players to showcase their individual abilities during the matches, boosts their confidence, and strengthens their sense of team spirit.
Cultivating comprehensive qualities and shaping personality
Football not only enhances technical skills and physical fitness but also shapes the overall qualities of children, such as decision-making and reaction abilities, resilience, social skills, and teamwork spirit. This development of qualities helps them achieve excellent results on the field while enabling them to become better individuals in life, capable of facing various challenges and adapting to a diverse social environment.

U6-U15 ELITE TEAM
Systematic youth training system
The youth training system of RCD Espanyol is highly developed, with youth teams achieving significant success in Spain and even across Europe. The Espanyol Shanghai Academy also follows and applies the club's most advanced training methods, incorporating the technical and tactical training and gameplay strategies from the Spanish youth training system into real practice.RCD Espanyol's annual technical director training course
Spanish football is renowned worldwide for its unique technical style, particularly evident in its youth training system. This system focuses on cultivating players' fundamental skills and fine techniques from a young age, but its training methods are more inclined toward practical application rather than the mere pursuit of standardized movements. This practice-oriented training philosophy enables players to flexibly apply the skills they have learned in real matches, rather than mechanically executing fixed motions.Possession-based play, as the core characteristic of Spanish football, is a concept that is implemented starting from the youth training stage. Through this approach, players are trained to make quicker, more effective decisions to adapt to the rapidly changing dynamics of a match. During training, coaches not only focus on individual skill improvement but also emphasize the importance of teamwork, helping players communicate and collaborate effectively within the game context.
Efficient technical and tactical training
Youth football training in Spain is renowned for its efficiency and intensity, particularly within elite teams, where participants often feel both physically and mentally exhausted after a single session. In a fast-paced competitive environment, players must continuously apply their skills to execute various actions while their minds are busy assessing and selecting the best course of action for their next move. This high-intensity training demands quick decision-making from players in rapidly changing situations, whether on the offensive or defensive side, requiring immediate reactions. The diverse range of training content keeps the participants excited and motivated in the high-pressure training atmosphere. By simulating real-match scenarios, they enhance their understanding and execution of tactical coordination. This intense and challenging training style not only improves the players' competitive condition but also ensures they are well-prepared for weekend matches.Training Frequency and Time Management
In Spain, youth training is generally controlled to a frequency of no more than three times a week, with each session limited to under 90 minutes. This training system allows coaches to flexibly adjust the content and intensity of the sessions, ensuring that each training is filled with novelty and challenges, enabling players to grow and improve in a positive atmosphere. The 90-minute training session is a scientifically based setting, as players tend to experience physical fatigue and a drop in attention after this time, which can lead to decreased training efficiency. Over time, this can foster a sense of boredom with training. A scientific and reasonable scheduling helps children maintain their passion and enthusiasm for football while avoiding the fatigue and injury risks associated with excessive training loads. This focus on a scientifically arranged training philosophy not only lays a solid foundation for players' technical development but is also one of the important factors for their eventual success in professional careers.UEFA Coach Practical GuidanceEmphasize the Accumulation of Game ExperienceSpain's youth training system emphasizes the accumulation of match experience, with competitive games taking place every weekend for teams of all age groups. This practice enhances young players' mental resilience and practical skills, allowing them to apply the techniques and tactics they have learned in real match situations. In youth soccer training, we often encounter a few situations: for example, some players may excel in individual skills but fail to effectively apply these techniques during actual matches, with their decision-making also lacking. Alternatively, some players exhibit a strong competitive spirit in training but appear hesitant and timid during games. This mismatch between psychological readiness and skill often presents a significant challenge in the development of young players. As the number of matches increases, the tactical guidance from coaches becomes crucial for players' growth. Coaches help players continuously accumulate experience and make progress. More importantly, they integrate competition with subsequent training by designing targeted simulations of real match scenarios. This kind of training helps players and teams gradually solve various issues. The Espanyol Shanghai Academy participates in various high-level league and cup competitions throughout the city for elite teams ranging from U6 to U15. With an open and positive attitude, they are eager to compete and exchange ideas with teams from other clubs or schools. Through these matches, they promote mutual growth, enhance friendships, and cultivate players' independence and decision-making skills.Since 2016, the elite teams have won multiple awards in various major competitions.
The Espanyol 1900 Tournament is hosted by La Liga's RCD Espanyol and takes place in early April each year in Barcelona, Spain. The Espanyol 1900 Cup creates an opportunity for youth football academies from various countries to engage in competitive football and friendly exchanges. The players in the Recreation class also have various competition activities. The training day held at the end of each month is highly anticipated by the children. Additionally, the large academy league held each quarter provides a great opportunity for them to showcase their skills. Winning a gold medal in the league and receiving a small commemorative reward, working hard with teammates, competing against opponents, and immersing themselves in the joy of football matches creates unforgettable and eagerly awaited experiences!
