Cross-Institutional and Corporate Collaboration: Congratulations on the Successful Completion of the FRLC "Belt and Road" Public Legal Research Volunteer Project.

Recently, the Foreign-Related Legal Circle (FRLC) released the "Volunteer Recruitment Announcement for Collaborative Groups," which attracted nearly a hundred outstanding volunteer applications. These volunteers include undergraduates and postgraduates from renowned universities such as Peking University, Fudan University, China University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, North China University of Science and Technology, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, and Qinghai Normal University. Additionally, lawyers and legal professionals from various institutions, including Lisa's Law Solicitors, Shanghai Jinshiwei Law Firm, Lotus Group, Shanghai Jintiancheng (Qingdao) Law Firm, Beijing Yingke (Kunming) Law Firm, and Beijing Jingshi (Shanghai) Law Firm, actively responded to the call.

In particular, the volunteer team demonstrated exceptional professionalism and teamwork in the "Belt and Road" Public Legal Services Research Project, leaving a lasting impression. This phase of the project involved in-depth research and systematic analysis of the public legal service systems of several countries, including Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Singapore, Turkey, and Egypt, providing strong support for potential future international legal cooperation between various parties.

The successful completion of this project is not only attributed to the dedication and focus of each volunteer but also highlights their rigorous approach and profound insights in international legal research. Now, let us look back on the volunteers' participation and the valuable experiences they gained throughout the project:

Kelly Wei

Master of Translation, East China University of Political Science and Law
LLM, University of Connecticut, USA
Co-founder of FRLC (Foreign-Related Legal Circle)

Volunteer Team Collaboration and Achievements

In the "Belt and Road" Public Legal Service Research Volunteer Project, I organized the volunteer team to conduct in-depth research on the target countries, established the overall research framework, and formulated standardized search criteria and research methods, ensuring uniform formatting of the research texts. I continuously monitored the project, advanced the research progress, and coordinated the communication and collaboration between the research institutes and volunteers. Thanks to the active cooperation of the volunteers, we successfully completed preliminary research reports on 15 countries, laying a solid foundation for the project’s initial research phase.

Significance and Gains of the Project

This project holds great significance, positioning the "Belt and Road" Initiative as a platform for high-quality global governance. By integrating international best practices in the provision of public goods, the project contributes to China’s active participation in reforming and constructing the global governance system. This transition moves China from being primarily an adopter and follower of existing international rules to becoming a co-creator and innovative driver of rule-making and reshaping.

To FRLC (Foreign-Related Legal Circle)

I would like to express my gratitude to the Foreign-Related Legal Circle for meticulously organizing this project, offering us the valuable opportunity to explore the public legal systems of "Belt and Road" countries. In addition to the research outcomes, I hope that everyone has enhanced their skills in research, data collection, and analytical integration, while gaining a more intuitive understanding of foreign legal systems. We look forward to your continued engagement with the Foreign-Related Legal Circle, as we strive to provide more high-quality research opportunities in the future. Throughout this process, we will prioritize knowledge management, helping everyone further develop their capabilities in foreign-related legal research.

🇪🇬Egypt Public Legal Service Research

Significance and Gains of the Project

This has been a very meaningful activity for me, as I gained a preliminary understanding of Egypt's legal system, rule of law development, and legal services. Egypt is a crucial node in the Maritime Silk Road, characterized by a large labor force, abundant natural resources, and relatively well-developed infrastructure compared to its neighboring countries. It has a solid foundation for cooperation with China, presenting significant development potential. As a civil law country influenced by certain aspects of Islamic law, Egypt has seen rapid advancements in legislation and the judiciary over the past thirty years, although there is still considerable room for improvement in public legal services.

To FRLC (Foreign-Related Legal Circle)

I would like to express my gratitude to FRLC for giving us the opportunity to participate in this volunteer activity. I hope to learn more about foreign-related legal knowledge through this platform and engage with excellent peers in future discussions.

🇻🇳Vietnam Public Legal Service Research

Significance and Gains of the Project

Public legal services represent a mechanism that is both locally relevant and timely for China. Developing the foundational infrastructure for public legal services in countries along the Belt and Road has significant practical implications for Chinese enterprises operating abroad, helping them understand the legal service policies and systems of these nations. My participation in this research project organized by FRLC (Foreign-Related Legal Circle) holds forward-looking value for the skill development of foreign-related legal practitioners.

To FRLC (Foreign-Related Legal Circle)

FRLC is dedicated to building a platform for knowledge sharing, skill exchange, and professional collaboration among foreign-related legal professionals. Thanks to the efforts of FRLC and all its members, many foreign-related legal practitioners and university students have benefited from valuable channels and resources. As China continues to upgrade its industries and enterprises expand internationally, the need for effective legal strategies becomes increasingly essential. In the face of a complex trade environment, I hope to help create a professional community for foreign-related lawyers that enhances practice skills and strategic vision, fostering a supportive and efficient legal network. FRLC exemplifies this ideal.

Founder

Sun Xudong, the initiator of FRLC, stated:

Through the research project on public legal services in Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) countries, volunteers have demonstrated exceptional professionalism and collaborative spirit, completing a significant international legal research endeavor. Their efforts not only yielded substantial results for the project itself but also laid a solid foundation for future developments in the related field. We look forward to having more experts, scholars, and the public engage in discussions about the public legal service systems in these countries during subsequent public exchange activities, propelling international legal cooperation to new heights.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every participant for their hard work and enthusiastic support, and we anticipate continuing our collaboration to explore more new legal fields in the future.

Additionally, to further promote the sharing and exchange of results from the research project on public legal services in BRI countries, we will launch a special interactive activity! From now until October 20th, if you are interested in any of the countries covered in this research (Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Singapore, Turkey, Egypt), we invite you to add the WeChat ID of the Foreign-Related Legal Circle editor and send us your thoughts via private message.
