On July 26, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 94 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, importation of Bangladeshi fresh mangoes meeting the relevant requirements is permitted.
Orchards, packing houses, cold storage and heat treatment facilities for mangoes exported to China must be examined and recorded by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (hereinafter referred to as the Bangladeshi side) and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The registration information includes name, address and registration number for accurate traceability in case the exported goods do not comply with the provisions of this announcement. The registration list shall be provided by Bangladeshi side to the Chinese side before the export season each year, and published on the website of the GACC after being reviewed and approved by the Chinese side.
Meanwhile, the announcement also lists in detail the relevant requirements to be met for importation, including packaging requirements, phytosanitary certificate requirements and so on.
