Here, you will find answers of the most frequently asked questions which cover various aspects related to your new start at NUIST.
In general, new international students should come to NUIST for registration according to the dates in the admission notice. How do I get to the school?
1. 从机场前往学校 (From Airport to Campus):
(1) 乘坐机场巴士江北专线：禄口机场站（阿尔卡迪亚酒店方向）——南京信息工程大学站。乘车时间：机场至江北每天八个班次，具体时间为：9：00、10：30、12：30、14：30、16：30、18：30、20：30、23：10。
Bus: take the airport bus (Jiangbei line): Lukou Airport Station (towards the Arcadia Hotel) -- Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology Station. Bus schedule: there are eight trips from the airport to Jiangbei area everyday, and departure time is: 9:00, 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30, 18:30, 20:30, and 23:10.
(2) 乘坐地铁线路：禄口机场站进入，乘坐S1号线（南京南站方向），到达南京南站，转乘地铁3号线（林场方向），到达泰冯路，转乘S8号线（金牛湖方向），到达南京信息工程大学站下车（2号口）出。学校在地铁站的右手边方向。
Subway: take Line S1 (Nanjing South Railway Station direction), arrive at Nanjing South Railway Station, transfer to Line 3 (Linchang direction), arrive at Taifenglu, transfer to Line S8 (Jinniuhu direction), arrive at Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology Station, and get off from Exit 2. The school is on the right side of the metro station.
2. 从火车站前往学校 (From Railway Stations to Campus):
(1) 从南京火车站出发(From Nanjing Railway Station):
地铁：乘地铁三号线在“泰冯路”站换乘S8号线到“南京信息工程大学”站（2号出口），到达南京信息工程大学东苑南门。
Subway: take Line 3, arrive at Taifenglu Station, then transfer to Line S8 and arrive at NUIST Station. Get off from Exit 2. The school is on the right side of the metro station.
(2) 从南京南站出发 (From Nanjing South Railway Station):
地铁：乘地铁三号线在“泰冯路”站换乘S8号线到“南京信息工程大学”站（2号出口），到达南京信息工程大学东苑南门。
Subway: take Line 3, arrive at Taifenglu Station, then transfer to Line S8 and arrive at NUIST Station. Get off from Exit 2. The school is on the right side of the metro station.

Can all kinds of fees be paid
in installments?
按照管理规定，不可分期支付，需一次性缴纳。
According to the regulations, fees cannot be paid in installments, but should be paid at a single time during the registration process.

What if I fail to pay all kinds
of fees by the deadline?
逾期不缴纳各类费用者，学生签证不予延期，并予以退学处理。
Students who do not finish payments of all kinds of fees by the deadline will not get renewed visa and will be dropped out from NUIST.

I don't want to buy the insurance.
Do I have to pay for it?
是的！根据中华人民共和国教育部相关规定、《南京信息工程大学外国留学生管理规定》要求，外国留学生在我国大陆需购买团体综合保险。未购买符合规定标准的保险产品的留学生，学校将不予注册报到。
YES! According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the Regulations of Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology on the Management of International Students, students are required to purchase group comprehensive insurance when they study in the Chinese mainland. Students who do not purchase insurance that meet the stipulated standards will not be allowed to register.

How do I purchase the insurance?
我校将采取线上缴纳保险费用的形式。
The insurance fee will be paid online.
普通奖学金生可关注“外籍保险服务”微信公众号（微信号：gh_303a1fb24158)，点击“My Account”登录并购买保险。
Students with general scholarships should follow the WeChat account of "外籍保险服务" (WeChat ID: gh_303a1fb24158) and click "My Account" to log in and then purchase the insurance.
CSC奖学金生可关注“来华留学生保险”微信公众号（微信号：LHLXBX1314），点击“保险缴费 Buy”登录并购买保险。
Students with CSC scholarships should follow the WeChat account of "来华留学保险" (WeChat ID: LHLXBX1314), and click "保险缴费 Buy" to log in and then purchase the insurance.
对于没有购买所要求的医疗保险者，学校将不予办理注册手续，也不会为其办理居留许可，所有后果由其本人承担。
For those who do not purchase the required medical insurance, the school will not handle the registration procedures including the visa extension for them, and thus all the consequences will be borne by the students themselves.

Original diploma and degree certificate of the previous school (notarized Chinese or English translation should be attached if certificates are in other languages)
5、HSK证书（纸质版原件）（如未参加或未通过考试可不提交）
Original HSK certificate (if you have not participated in or failed to pass the exam, you may not submit it)
6、外国人体格检查表（近六个月内）（纸质版原件）
Original Physical Examination Report (within six months)
7、外籍人士来华医疗保险购买凭证
Purchased medical insurance as required
8、护照尺寸的照片（8张）
Passport-size photos (8 copies)

What should I pay attention
to for physical examination?
体检服务仅上午开放，请携带护照原件，二寸照片2张，钱，空腹（不要吃早饭）。
The medical check-up service only opens in the morning, please go to the medical center early in the morning, bring your original passport, 2 passport-size photos, and money, and do not eat breakfast.

How can I get to the medical
checkup center？
目的地: 江苏国际卫生旅行保健中心
Destination: Jiangsu International Travel Health Center
地址: 创智路39号
Address: No. 39 Chuangzhi Road
路线: 乘坐502路公交车至汉中门总站下车，换乘地铁2号线至雨润大街站下，1号口出，沿雨润大街步行至创智路左转，步行约10分钟。
Route: Take Bus No. 502 to Hanzhongmen Station, then transfer to Metro Line 2 to Yurun Dajie Station, get off from Exit 1, then walk along Yurun Street to Chuangzhi Road, turn left, and walk for about 10 minutes.

Where should I go to apply for
the visa/ residence permit?
可去以下两个地点办理居留许可：
Students can choose either of the following places to do the residence permit:
(1) 南京市公安局出入境管理处地址: 白下路173号路线: 乘坐地铁S8号线开往泰山新村方向，在泰冯路站换乘开往秣周东路的地铁3号线，在常府街站1号口出来后，沿太平南路由北向南行至白下路口左转，步行约8分钟。提醒:如不确定步行路线，请询问路人。
Exit and Entry Administration Department of Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau Address: No. 173 Baixia Road Route: Take Metro line S8 (Taishan Xincun direction), transfer to line 3 (Mozhou Donglu direction) at Taifenglu Station, get off from Exit 1 of Changfujie Station, then walk along Taiping South Road until reaching Baixia Road and turn left. Reminder: If you are unsure of the route, please ask passers-by.
(2)江北新区市民中心地址: 滨江大道300号路线:乘坐D10公交车开往江北新区研创园方向，在浦厂小区站换乘698公交车，在江北新区市民中心站下车到达。
Jiangbei New Area Citizen Center Address: No. 300 Binjiang Avenue Route: Take bus No. D10 (Jiangbeixinqu Yanchuangyuan direction), transfer to bus No. 698 at Puchang Xiaoqu Station, and get off at Jiangbei Xinqu Shimin Zhongxin Station.

What documents are needed
for residence permit application?
1、本人有效普通护照及签证的原件和复印件;
Original and one copy of valid ordinary passport and visa;
2、注明学习期限的我校公函和《录取通知书》;
Our official letter and Admission Notice;
3、《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》(JW201 表或JW202表)原件;
Original JW201/202;
4、填写《外国人签证、居留许可申请表》，粘贴近期两寸正面免冠白底彩色照片1张;
Fill in the "Foreigner Visa/Residence Permit Application Form", and paste one passport-size photo with white background;
5、临时住宿登记证明；
Temporary residence registration form;
6、江苏国际旅行卫生保健中心出具的健康证明。
Health report issued by Jiangsu International Travel Health Center.
注意:留学生应当密切注意护照、签证、居留许可的有效期，及时办理延期手续。对于在签证、居留许可到期后非法停留、居留的留学生公安机关按有关规定给予警告: 情节严重的，处每非法居留一日五百元， 总额不超过一万元的罚款或者五日以上十五日以下拘留。
Note: International students should pay close attention to the validity of their passports, visas and residence permits and apply for the extension or renewal in time. For students who stay or reside illegally after the expiration of their visas or residence permits, the police stations shall give them a warning according to relevant regulations. If the circumstances are serious, they shall be fined 500 yuan for each day of the illegal residence, with a total fine of no more than 10,000 yuan, or be detained for more than five days but less than 15 days.
