We have recently read in our textbook that local or regional governments often need to reduce the amount of money budgeted in some areas in response to economic short falls. For instance, a city council may make the difficult decision to spend less on a certain public service for its residents. In your view, in what one or two areas should local or regional governments reduce spending when budget cuts are necessary? Why?My city has a lot of parks that require a lot of upkeep. If there's a need to reduce expenses, the city could make changes to the parks that make them less expensive to maintain. For example, grass lawns, which need to be cut weekly, could be replaced with other plant species that do not need to be cut frequently.Last time I went to City Hall to take care of some business. I saw a lot of employees standing around and doing nothing. I think the local government may be employing too many workers. It was just an impression I had, but I wonder if this is something that should be reviewed.

Governments reduce spending in what area when budget cuts are necessaryRTT 07 参考范文:
I believe that Claire's suggestion of replacing grass with other plants that require less maintenance is a practical choice for saving money. If parks in cities are covered by plants that do not need to be cut very frequently, the budget allocated for hiring workers to do the upkeep job can be lowered considerably, but people can still enjoy the beautiful looks of green plants and the oxygen they produce. It's a win-win situation. Paul's proposal, however, needs to be considered after doing more observation. He talks about seeing many city hall employees standing there and doing nothing, but it is possible that he didn't go there during peak hours. When deciding how many people to hire, the city hall must consider the maximum capacity they need to handle. Some employees might not be busy when Paul was there, but they could be necessary in peak hours. (Total words: 147 words; by Zirui Wang)🎁🎁
