In a move to bolster Hainan's status as a hub for international tourism and trade, the National Immigration Administration of China has unveiled a new 144-hour visa-free policy for foreign tourist groups. Effective from July 30, this policy allows visitors from countries with diplomatic ties to China to explore Hainan visa-free after arriving from Hong Kong or Macao.

To be eligible, tourists must hold ordinary passports and participate in a tour group organized by a registered travel agency in either Hong Kong or Macao. Groups must consist of at least two individuals and use designated ports for entry and exit, with their activities confined to Hainan province. The 144-hour countdown begins the day after their entry.

This initiative is the latest by the administration to support Hainan's development as a Free Trade Port and to enhance its openness to international business and tourism. It is anticipated that the policy will not only invigorate Hainan's economy but also stimulate economic growth in Hong Kong and Macao by fostering regional exchanges and integration.

A spokesperson for the National Immigration Administration indicated that the administration is committed to refining regional visa policies to create a more open and welcoming environment for foreign nationals.

The ultimate goal is to improve immigration management and align with China's broader national development strategy.
