On September 23, at Nanjing Lukou International Airport, border police officers discovered a foreign traveler who had overstayed their visa. When questioned by an officer, the traveler replied, "Officer, isn’t the deadline September 31? Today is only September 23—what’s the problem?" The officer corrected him: "Sir, the expiration date is clearly stated as August 31. And by the way, when does September have 31 days?" The traveler was left speechless, realizing the mistake. Afterward, officers took him to the enforcement area for further investigation. It turned out that due to negligence, the traveler had confused the visa expiration date of August 31 with a nonexistent September 31. As a result, he had overstayed his visa by 23 days, which constituted illegal residency.According to the relevant provisions of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, Nanjing border control issued an administrative penalty for the violation. Officers also reminded all foreign travelers to pay close attention to the validity of their Chinese visas and residence permits to avoid illegal stays and ensure their travels proceed smoothly.
