WeChat has announced that its Moments feature now officially supports Live Photos, a photography function that captures a brief moment of motion and sound before and after a photo is taken.
Live Photos, also known as Live Photos, was first introduced with the iPhone 6s. This special feature allows users to record a 3-second dynamic video around the time the photo is taken. When viewed, the photo comes to life, playing the recorded motion and sound.
Recently, WeChat has confirmed that Moments will fully support this interactive photo format. When using Live Photos for the first time, users will receive a friendly reminder:
Select Live Photos when posting, and they will include dynamic visuals and sounds. You also have the option to turn off the Live switch for individual photos to post a static image.
To post Live Photos in Moments, follow the same steps as posting a regular photo:
Open WeChat Moments and select from your phone's album. If it's a Live Photo, a "Live" icon will appear in the bottom left corner.
Select and post your Live Photo to include dynamic effects. WeChat also supports a mix of static and Live Photos in a single post.
Of course, you can choose to turn off the Live effect when posting.
After posting a Live Photo in Moments, friends will be able to see a "Live" icon in the bottom left corner of the image:
It is understood that this feature is being gradually rolled out to iOS versions 8.0.51 and above. Once users update and are covered by the rollout, they can start using it.
Some users have inquired about the availability of this feature for Android users.
In response, WeChat officials said, "Promise me, just wait a little longer."
