An incident occurred where a group of Chinese individuals assaulted a citizen for pointing out indoor smoking.
Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 28th that a Chinese national, referred to as A, was arrested at the scene on charges of special assault, and they are tracking down the remaining five Chinese individuals who fled the scene.
Chinese national A and their group are accused of assaulting Korean national B and B's girlfriend on the 25th at a lamb skewer restaurant in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul.
On this day, it was reported that A and the group were smoking indoors when they were asked by the couple B to smoke outside. In response, A's group argued, saying, “What makes Koreans so special that they can’t even let us smoke?” The group then allegedly took the couple B outside the restaurant and assaulted them with beer bottles and by stepping on them. B, who was assaulted by the group, reportedly received a medical diagnosis of 16 weeks of total recovery due to minor fractures and abrasions.
Upon receiving a report, the police arrived and arrested A at the scene on charges of special assault. The rest of the group, except for A, reportedly left the scene upon hearing the police sirens. The police are currently investigating A to determine the exact details of the crime.
