Authorities conducted a surprise raid on bars in Central Hong Kong, targeting an unlicensed establishment on Li Yuen Street East at around 6pm yesterday. During the operation, officials seized approximately 93 bottles of liquor and 36 bottles of spirits, alongside a stack of invoices, leading to the arrest of 50 individuals aged between 19 and 56.
Among those detained was a 47-year-old male manager from Nepal, who faces charges for operating without a liquor licence and possessing alcoholic beverages for sale without proper authorisation. Additionally, six other Nepali men, four Indian men, five Pakistani men, and 34 Filipino women were arrested for consuming alcohol in an establishment without a valid liquor licence. All detainees are currently held for further investigation.
