Caitlin喜欢英美大学的课程设置与氛围，希望在大学可能有更多机会探索自己真正喜欢的方向。为了能申到更好的大学和感觉他们的文化，小学的时候父母就已经规划学习了剑桥五级的英文体系，在小学5年级通过剑桥CAE级别，以及6年级的时候已经拿下来雅思7.5 的高分。关于院校与专业，其实是在高中学习中一步步探索出来的，最开始是奔着剑桥去的，学习途中发现自己相比于理论更喜欢实际应用，所以从专业的选择从自然科学变成工程。初高中的生活就是在各个学科的clinic和准备竞赛中穿梭。竞赛的准备很繁琐很累，但对于相关学科的理解和兴趣也有很大的帮助，一定程度上减轻了她学习阶段的压力。在各类竞赛心里有已经有底之后，每年寒暑假开始积累阅读、活动及写文书的，开学后准备笔试，然后交完申请后准备面试。高效，且有节奏，有目标的规划也为她解决了很多后顾之忧。
