On December 8, a woman claimed that she was "molested" by a foreign student in a public place. The student allegedly touched her ass with his hand, and the incident was captured on surveillance footage.
It is said that the foreign student is from Turkmenistan and is a third year student at Shanxi University.
On December 9, a reporter contacted the International Education Exchange Institute of Shanxi University. A staff member explained that the incident occurred around 2 a.m. on December 7 at the entrance of a bar. However, the surveillance footage does not clearly show whether the student in question actually touched the woman's ass. The police defined the act as a brief touch rather than molestation. The foreign student has been subjected to five days of administrative detention, and the university will impose corresponding disciplinary measures, which will be stricter in nature.
