Recently, while processing the exit procedures for three foreign men, police officers at the Luohu Border Control Station discovered that the temporary entry permits of all three individuals showed signs of alteration. The situation was immediately reported for further investigation.
It was later revealed that the three foreign men were university students who had come to China as tourists. Upon entering China, they obtained temporary entry permits valid until August 13th. However, due to limited travel funds, they wanted to find the cheapest return flights available. After searching, they found that the cheapest tickets were for August 18th, but their temporary entry permits were only valid until August 13th. In an attempt to conceal their illegal stay, they altered the "3" in the validity date to an "8," hoping to deceive the authorities and successfully exit the country. Unexpectedly, this action violated China's immigration laws, and they were caught by immigration officers on duty.
According to Article 71, Item 1 of the "Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China," each of the three individuals was fined RMB 1,500. Additionally, in accordance with Article 62, Paragraph 1, Item 2, and Paragraph 3 of the same law, the three individuals were deported from the country.
In recent years, as the National Immigration Administration has continuously optimized the policies for the entry, stay, and residence of foreign nationals, a series of favorable policies have been introduced, making it easier for foreigners to visit China. These policy benefits have become a "traffic code" for attracting foreign tourists and a "policy signature" of China's ongoing openness.
The Luohu Border Control Station reminds all foreign travelers entering or leaving China to familiarize themselves with the relevant immigration laws of China, and to ensure that their documents, visas, and residence permits are valid. If they find that their permits have expired, they should promptly visit the local immigration management office to apply for an extension and avoid taking risks that could lead to legal consequences.
