Foreign Minister of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh provided the following information regarding the case involving five students from our country allegedly connected to a crime in China:
“Currently, 285,000 of our citizens are living, working, and studying abroad. It is essential for our citizens to understand the customs and traditions of their host countries and act responsibly. Unfortunately, many of our citizens face problems due to irresponsible behavior and lack of personal discipline, leading to accidents or injuries. Despite repeated warnings, cases of involvement in legal troubles remain frequent.
For instance, in Shanghai, an incident occurred where five students from our country got into a physical altercation with students from Morocco. These students are now in detention.
The General Consul of our country in Shanghai has informed the families of the detained students. Consequently, their families have traveled to Shanghai and hired legal representation. As a criminal case has been initiated, investigations are ongoing.
Tomorrow, the consul will meet with the students. Their lawyer is actively working on this case.
Additionally, it has been reported that the Moroccan students involved in the incident sustained injuries,” stated the Minister.
