自从发现抗苗勒氏管激素 (AMH) 以来，人们在阐明其在男性和女性性腺功能中的作用以及其在不孕症中的意义方面取得了重大进展。在过去的二十年里，AMH 测量在临床实践中的应用发生了重大变化。它最初主要用作卵巢功能的指标，后来成为评估卵巢老化和储备、预测生育力保存结果、诊断 PCOS 和测量生育治疗效果的宝贵工具。此外，在过去十年中，多项研究揭示了整个下丘脑-垂体-性腺轴中都存在 AMH 受体，这表明 AMH 可能是生育力的关键神经内分泌调节剂。
显然，我们对 AMH 的转录控制、卵巢 AMH 通过下丘脑细胞网络的间接影响以及 AMH 对表达其受体的不同性腺外器官的潜在作用的理解仍然存在重大差距。单细胞多组学、患者特异性 iPSC 细胞和类器官等新兴技术代表了一种有前途的工具，可以更好地了解生理和病理生殖条件下 AMH 表达的改变调节。
