If there’s one gift worth giving every Christmas, it’s the gift of chocolate – be it chocolate bars, truffles of all flavors, or chocolate chunks. Beijing has a number of chocolatiers worth visiting, some of which have been in the capital for years now. Here are four we really like.

Venchi Chocolate

This Italian chocolatier has multiple shops around Beijing, with the two most prominent being in Sanlitun Taikooli and Guomao. Besides an impressive array of truffles that can be mixed and matched, they’ve also got flavored brittle chunks, chocolate bars with flavors like tiramisu and pistachio, and more. Should you want a treat during your visit, there are also shakes, gelato, and hot chocolate available.

Pi Choco

Situated in the slowly growing Longfusi area, Pi Choco specializes in truffles, ice cream, and other chocolate confectionaries. Truffles are all in the RMB 32 zone and can be mixed and matched, and Pi Choco also a nice selection of hot chocolates in the RMB 40 range.

La Place Collection

This little shop in the Sanlitun embassy district specializing in Belgian and French-style chocolate has called Beijing home for over 18 years now. Unlike the other spots mentioned on this list, La Place solely focuses on chocolates. Dark, milk, truffles… the choices are endless, with prices starting at RMB 118 for a box of four, RMB 278 for a box of six, and up from there. Keep in mind the shop is sometimes closed and open by appointment only, so it's best to call ahead.

Lecire Chocolate

Another shop with multiple locations around Beijing, Lecire’s claim to fame is that it’s one of the only spots in Beijing where you can get yourself some Dubai chocolate – or at least their version of this viral treat. The pistachio-flavored monster of a chocolate bar comes in either dark or milk (RMB 168 for both), or in a box of nine mini Dubai chocolate squares for RMB 188.
