A foreign man attempting to carry illegal drugs into Beijing was apprehended by customs on Nov 29 at Beijing Capital International Airport, according to Beijing Traffic Radio. The man was found to be smuggling 123 pills of cocaine weighing over 1,000 grams, making this the biggest drug bust carried out by Beijing customs in a travel inspection channel in the past five years.
Beijing’s railway stations have all gotten a major upgrade to their exits, according to various local media. All gate turnstile exits, which were a common site at many stations, are long gone, replaced by automatic gates, doors, and other means of egress. The new exits are meant to save time and hassle for passengers who are disabled or who are traveling with oversized luggage.

Construction on the underground section of the Beijing-Tangshan Railway will soon enter the track laying phase, reports WeChat news account Jingcheng Shi’r (京城事儿). Part of the larger Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Intercity Railway, the underground connection will enable passengers from Tangshan to reach Tongzhou District – aka the “city sub-center” – within half an hour.
