Day 1071 Tomboys (Part one)

Mandy: Some of my girlfriends have an unusual style. They have short hair, they only wear jeans, T-shirts, and tennis shoes, and they never wear make-up. I think if I didn’t know them I wouldn’t be able to tell that they were girls!

Sam: There are a lot of girls like that, but I think they're still really cute. Their style has a nice casual and confident feeling: it looks very natural.

Children have different styles of learning: some learn by seeing, some by hearing, some by doing. 儿童有不同的学习模式,有一些通过看来学习,有一些通过听来学习,有一些通过做来学习。


wear v. [wer] to have something on your body as clothing, decoration, or protection 穿,搽,戴

He was wearing jeans and a T-shirt. 他穿着牛仔裤和T恤。

She wasn't wearing any make-up. 她没有搽化妆品。

He wears glasses now. 他现在戴眼镜了。

make-up n. [ˈmeɪkʌp] [U] colored substances that are put on your face to improve or change your appearance 化妆品

I don't usually wear much make-up. 我一般不抹太多的化妆品。

If + S.+ did / were to do, S.+ would / should / could / might + do

tell v. [tel] to know something or be able to recognize something because of certain signs that show this 知道,明白,看出来,听出来

The moment Kramer walked in, I could tell that things were not going well. 克里玛一走进来,我就看出情况不好了。

I could tell from his tone of voice that Ken was disappointed. 我从他的语气中听出肯很失望。


cute adj. [kjuːt] 1. (especially AmE) sexually attractive 性感的,有魅力的

Tell us about this cute guy you met! 跟我们说说你遇到的这个有魅力的男人。

(Day 856) If I see a cute guy, I go up and chat with him a while. 如果我看见一个有魅力的男人,我就会走过去跟他聊一会。
