阿尔茨海默病(Alzheimer disease,AD)是一种中枢神经系统的退行性病变,主要发生在老年或老年前期。疾病的主要特征包括进行性的认知功能障碍和行为损害。阿尔茨海默氏病是痴呆症最常见的形式,可能占病例数的60-70%。


阿尔茨海默病是老年期最常见的一种痴呆类型,并且随着年龄的增长,患病的风险也在增加。阿尔茨海默病的症状包括记忆障碍,失语,失用,失认以及视空间能力损害等。此外,患者的抽象思维和计算力也会损害,常伴随人格和行为的改变。这种疾病不是传染的,而是由基因、生活方式和环境因素共同作用的结果。


该疾病通常需要长期治疗,目前医学界主要通过药物和心理治疗等方法控制病情发展,延缓症状恶化。尽管阿尔茨海默病目前尚无彻底根治的方法,但通过良好的生活习惯,包括规律的体育锻炼,科学的饮食,适当的社交活动可以预防疾病的发生和发展。

阿尔茨海默病的命名来源于首次描述这种疾病的德国医生阿尔茨海默。近年来,阿尔茨海默病的研究取得了重大进展,基因技术、脑成像技术等在阿尔茨海默病的早期诊断方面发挥了重要作用,同时也为理解疾病的发生机制提供了新的视角。然而,阿尔茨海默病的确切发病机制仍不清楚,如何有效预防和治疗阿尔茨海默病仍然是科学家们需要努力探索的问题。

Harald Hampel是法国索邦大学医学博士。他在阿尔茨海默病 (AD) 和相关神经退行性疾病临床试验方面拥有超过25年的经验,负责监督卫材全球神经病学临床试验项目的规划和实施。

Bart De Strooper曾经在英国痴呆研究所担任所长,在神经退行性疾病研究实验室,天主教鲁汶大学神经科学系;伦敦大学学院神经病学研究所;天主教鲁汶大学医学院工作,现在伦敦大学学院皇后广场神经病学研究所的实验室工作。他是世界著名的阿尔茨海默病研究人员。
