A grand wedding in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, has captured the internet’s attention, with its romantic and extravagant setup becoming the talk of the town. The wedding, held in the picturesque Wuzhen scenic area, featured a stunning flower wall made of 80,000 roses and a towering cake, creating a visual feast for guests and online viewers alike.
The bride, known online as “Hei Mei” (Black Beauty), has been a local celebrity on social media and is nicknamed the “Tongxiang Zhang Jingyi” for her resemblance to the popular actress. Dubbed the “Sweater Princess” for her family’s prominence in the textile industry, she married her equally well-matched groom, known as the “Yarn Prince.” Together, the couple symbolizes a union of two prosperous families in Jiaxing, further adding to the public fascination with their fairytale-like love story.
The wedding reportedly cost millions of yuan, with the floral decorations alone accounting for a significant portion of the expenses. The entrance area, adorned with the massive rose wall, served as the centerpiece of the event and left guests in awe. Videos and photos of the wedding quickly went viral on social media platforms such as Xiaohongshu and WeChat Moments, where netizens expressed amazement at the grandeur and creativity.
A user on Xiaohongshu commented, “This is the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever seen. It’s like stepping into a dreamland.” Another wrote, “They really went all out with the flowers. I can’t imagine how much this cost!”
The highlight of the reception included the colossal, multi-tiered wedding cake displayed in the center of the banquet hall. It served as both a decorative piece and a symbolic representation of the couple’s “sweet” future together.
While many were in awe of the opulence, others had mixed feelings about the extravagance. Some netizens pointed out the societal expectations tied to such grand displays of wealth.
One user remarked, “It’s beautiful, but weddings have become more about showing off wealth than celebrating love.” Another quipped, “Who needs a house when you can have 80,000 roses at your wedding?”
Others, however, defended the couple, praising the event as a celebration of their unique story and family success. “They’re both from well-off families and deserve to enjoy their big day however they like. It’s their money and their happiness,” wrote a supportive commenter.
