A tragic incident occurred on December 13 at Shenzhen's Dameisha Coastal Walkway, where a 28-year-old female tourist from Guizhou province fell into the sea and drowned. According to multiple eyewitness accounts and videos shared online, the woman was reportedly taking photos when she accidentally fell into the water and was swept away by powerful waves.

Rescue efforts were promptly initiated. Eyewitnesses at the scene noted the presence of medics, firefighters, and rescue personnel. A helicopter was also dispatched to aid in the search. Unfortunately, on December 14, the Guangdong Coast Guard confirmed that her body had been recovered. The exact cause of her fall remains under investigation.

One eyewitness shared their account of the event, stating, “Around 2:30 PM, I saw rescue personnel searching, but I didn’t witness the person falling into the water. The waves were relentless.” Videos and photos from the scene show several visitors on the coastal walkway, many taking pictures despite visible warning signs about safety risks.

Netizens expressed both sorrow and frustration over the incident. “Such a young life, gone just like that. Safety must always come first,” one commented. Another recounted how they saw the rescue operation unfold: “I was nearby and saw people in orange rescue uniforms running toward the scene. Later, a helicopter circled overhead.”

The Dameisha walkway features a white railing approximately 1.5 meters high, with the deep blue winter sea visible below. Local police confirmed that the area is a public space with warning signs and patrolling staff. A representative from the Dameisha Park Customer Service Center clarified that the walkway does not belong to the park itself but is managed separately.
