Dr. Rui Wen

Rui Wen is a PhD student in the Department of Physics at the University of British Columbia, supervised by Prof. Andrew C. Potter. His research focuses on quantum information, topological quantum criticality, and topological holography.



报告摘要


Recent discoveries have revealed numerous novel phases of matter beyond the traditional Landau paradigm, including those with generalized symmetries and quantum criticality with topological characteristics. A unifying framework for these phases, known as topological holography, has emerged, wherein all topological properties of a d-dimensional system are encoded by a d+1-dimensional topological order called symmetry topological order (SymTO). in this talk l will discuss fundamental aspects of this paradigm as well as its applications. In particular, l will present how the SymTO provides a unified description for all kinds of dualities. including Kramers-Wannier, Jordan-Wigner, and general bosonization. Then l will discuss how to analyze non-invertible symmetries through the SymTo. Lastly, l will discuss how topology in quantum criticality, also known as gapless SPT, can be completely described by anyon condensation in the SymTO.
