Sai Zhou

Current position:

Ph. D. Candidate (Thesis defense in August)

Material Science and Engineering Program, University of California, San Diego

Talk title:

Wearable ultrasound in cardiovascular monitoring

Biography:

Sai Zhou earned his bachelor's degree in Material Science and Engineering from Central South University and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of California, San Diego. Mr. Zhou’s research focuses on the development and clinical validation of wearable ultrasound devices for cardiovascular monitoring. He has led multiple projects using wearable ultrasound devices to collect continuous hemodynamics data (e.g., blood pressure and blood flow) within deep tissues. These projects involved close collaboration with physicians from various medical centers for clinical validation.

Speaker 2

Chonghe Wang, Ph. D.

Current position:

Co-founder and CTO

Sonologi, Inc.

Talk Title:

8 Years in Ultrasound Patch Technology-Full body continuous ultrasound imaging

Biography:

Chonghe Wang received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Since 2016, he pioneered the direction of engineering  wearable ultrasound technology capable of monitoring deep tissue vital signs in the human body. He invented the world first generation of wearable ultrasound patches for humans (Nat. bme 2018). During the 8 years of research, he developed and validated breakthrough concepts such as the 'wearable deep tissue sensor (Nat. bme 2018 & 2021)', 'wearable bioimaging (Science 2022)’, and ‘Full body continuous ultrasound imaging (Nature 2024)’.

Dr. Wang's research has been exclusively highlighted by hundreds of renowned media outlets, including Time, National Geographic Magazine, Forbes, MIT Technology Review, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the NIH Director’s Blog, the World Economic Forum, and many others. This technology holds significant potential to transform bulky clinical ultrasound machines into next-generation digital healthcare wearable smart devices.

In 2024, Dr. Wang co-founded Sonologi, a deep-tech company specializing in ultrasound patch technology, where he serves as the co-founder and CTO. The company secured 18 million RMB in pre-seed funding round. His accolades include:

• Forbes 30 Under 30 (Science Category, North America)
• Finalist-National Inventors Hall of Fame
• 2023 Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate)
• Baxter Young Investigator Award (1st tier)
