Geodynamic setting, Genesis and Prospect of High-grade Iron Ores
Submission DeadLine: 28 February 2025
Iron (Fe), in the form of cast iron and steel, is arguably the backbone of all industrial development, and indispensable to modern civilization. China is currently the largest consumer of iron ore, which translates to be the world's largest steel producing country and is the largest producer of iron ore in Asia. In addition to Archean-Proterozoic banded iron formations (BIF), the iron ores in China are also found in volcanic, plutonic rocks and skarns as well. This feature is closely related to the complex architecture and prolonged evolution of three Precambrian cratons or blocks in China. Hence, to elucidate the geodynamic setting, genesis and prospect of high-grade iron ores is a major socio-economic focus.
The proposed special issue will cover the recent studies on the main types of iron mineralization, as well as the method of exploration. It can be divided into several sub-topics, including
Geodynamic setting of iron mineralization;
Banded iron formation (BIF) deposits;
Volcanic-hosted iron deposits;
Magmatic Ti–Fe-(V) deposits;
Skarn and apatite–magnetite deposits;
Exploration methods.

Journal of Asian Earth Sciences的CAR指数
