With the cold getting colder in Beijing, the best thing to do is head indoors to catch some art. Here we present two exhibitions and an art market worth checking out.
"Mo Yi: Me in My Landscape" & "Luc Tuymans: The Past" at UCCA
UCCA is presenting two intriguing artists for autumn and winter: Mo Yi and Luc Tuymans. The former, a Chinese street photographer, is known for his ability to capture the melancholy and energy of China’s evolving social fabric at the turn of the century. The latter is a Belgian contemporary artist whose paintings are known for having the ability to communicate yet withhold information on their subject matter simultaneously. While Mo Yi’s exhibition is already on exhibition, the Luc Tuymans exhibition will begin showing on Nov 16.
"Mo Yi: Me in My Landscape" is being held at UCCA from now until Dec 29. Tickets are RMB 30-50 and can be purchased via the UCCA WeChat mini-program (search: UCCA尤伦斯当代艺术中心) or in person at the museum.
"Luc Tuymans: the Past", is happening at UCCA from Nov 16 ‘til Feb 16, 2025. Early bird tickets are RMB 68-98 and can be purchased via the UCCA WeChat mini-program (search: UCCA尤伦斯当代艺术中心).

Gulou Art Market at The Factory
Also coming up this weekend, Nov 10, is the Gulou Market, an event showcasing local arts and crafts from Beijing’s talented community of creatives right in the heart of Gulou at The Factory.
Along with stalwarts like Annette Golden and Liuba Draws, expect new additions like the recycled, renewed shoes of Hu Atelier. There will be a few more new things in store as well, including children’s activities, a pith paper art workshop, and tunes throughout the event courtesy of DJ Old Pig.
The Gulou Market is happening on Sunday, Nov 10 from 1pm ‘til late at The Factory. Entry is free and you can read more about the market here.
