This is a column chart, clearly illustrating the striking contrasts in the elderly's major leisure activities in a certain community. To be specific, watching TV ranks the first, accounting for 90.8%, followed by walking, with 68.3%. The next are watering flowers and reading, at 34.7% and 31.8% respectively. Finally comes playing chess, with 18.4%.
Such figures, definitely, can be associated with elderly people's diverse lifestyles, but what resulted in these differences? For one thing, in recent years, China has been characterized by its economic boom and prosperity, which has enabled an increasing number of families to possess additional income to purchase household appliances, including TV sets. It is so many TV programs that eanble senior citizens to just sit on sofas to enjoy fun. For another, compared with youngsters, the elderly prefer actvities which require less energy, like walking, reading and playing chess.
As a youngster, I deem that when I get elderly, I will choose to travel around the world, which can bring me opportunities to taste diverse delicious food, inspire my passion for life and help me enjoy my happy twilight.
