In the left drawing, there is a young guy, reading a paper book attentively in the library. Across from the table sits a girl, focusing on a tablet computer. Meanwhile, a chart can be noticed on the right, which clearly displays the remarkable increase in the proportion of e-book usage, from 30% in 2019 to 70% in 2023. However, the percentage of paper book usage showed an opposite trend, decreasing from 70% to 30%.
Such a scene and the statistics above, apparently, can be associated with the growing popularity of e-books among youngsters in reality. So, what resulted in these changes? For one thing, e-books are characterized by being more convenient, cheaper, and more eco-friendly, which has enabled an increasing number of college students to choose e-books as their information sources. For another,despite the growing trend towards digital reading, traditional print books are still preferred by certain readers.
As a senior who is preparing for the national entrance exams for postgraduate studies, I prefer reading paper books, which can bring me a sense of immersion, inspire my passion for learning, and help me learn more attentively. Of course, I also read e-books occasionally.

The left drawing shows that in front of a computer, there is a youngster, appreciating the traditional Chinese opera performance attentively, with a folding fan in her hand. Meanwhile, the right chart displays that from 2014 to 2023, the proportion of young people in their 20s who watch Chinese opera on a certain website ascended significantly, from 15% to more than 30%.
Such a scenario and the statistics above, apparently, can be associated with the increasing popularity of traditional opera among the young. To begin with, China is characterized by its time-honored history and diverse traditional artistic forms, which are the base for the popularity of Chinese opera. In addition, compared with previous years, more primary and middle schools offer students elective courses, such as music, painting, Wushu, and traditional opera, which inspire teenagers’ interest in traditional art. Furthermore, it is modern technology that enables an increasing number of young people to get easy access to the opera performance and some of them fall in love with traditional opera.
As a senior who is preparing for the national entrance exams for postgraduate studies, I am fond of Peking opera, and I watch the show in my spare time, which can bring me enjoyment, inspire my passion for Chinese culture, and help me relax and ease my mental pressure.

These two drawings, apparently, can be associated with two distinct attitudes towards action. To be specific, in the left cartoon, there is a girl, doing sports carefully by following a workout video. By contrast, the boy in the right picture lies on a sofa leisurely, watching an exercise video on his phone, with a ridiculous thought in his mind, “watching equals practicing”. Finally, three Chinese characters can be noticed below the pictures, which say “the power of action”.
Successful individuals are characterized by their diverse excellent qualities such as diligence, confidence, perseverance, and the ability to take action. However, in reality, a host of youngsters tend to think about various goals, but take no action. This phenomenon is particularly worth attention. It is their laziness and reluctance to act that cause them to gain nothing in life, work, and study. A case in point is the guy in the right picture. As a matter of fact, this foolish behavior has constituted an obstacle that hinders young people’s growth and progress.
As a senior who is preparing for the national entrance exams for postgraduate studies, I have my dream and take action immediately, which can bring me the motivation to move forward, inspire my passion for striving, and help me achieve success. Thus, everyone is supposed to bear in mind that actions speak louder than words.
