Today is a special day in the traditional Chinese calendar – Lìchūn (立春), the first of the twenty-four solar terms.
立春通常在每年的2月3日、4日或5日，太阳到达黄经315度时到来。在英文中，立春被称为 Beginning of Spring 或 Start of Spring，完美地体现了这一节气“开始”的含义。
立春有三候，每五天为一候，分别代表着不同的自然现象：
一候：东风解冻
In the first five days, the ground begins to thaw. The east wind brings warmth to the earth, and the frozen ground starts to melt。
二候：蛰虫始振
In the second five days, insects begin to be active. As the weather warms up, the ground becomes soft, and those worms that hibernated underground during the winter start to wake up。
三候：鱼陟负冰
In the third five days, fish swim under the shards of ice. The ice in the river begins to melt, and fish start to swim under the broken ice。
在中国，立春不仅是自然的转折点，也是人们庆祝春天到来的重要时刻。下面是一些常见的立春习俗：
咬春
Biting the Spring: People in many parts of China eat carrots, spring pancakes, or spring rolls made with fresh spring vegetables. This custom is believed to keep people healthy and welcome the new spring。
迎春
Welcoming Spring: Ancient Chinese held grand ceremonies to worship the God of Spring, Goumang, who is also known as the "Green Emperor" and revered as the god of plants。
立鸡蛋
Erecting the Egg: It is said that an egg can be set upright on the first day of the Start of Spring. If someone can make the egg stand, they will have good luck in the future。

Spring fever
A lazy or restless feeling often associated with the onset of spring.
For example: "My students have spring fever and don't want to do their homework now that it's warmer outside"。
Spring into action
To begin doing something or become active suddenly and very quickly.
