It is time to lay eggs!
It is the first time these young hens have ever laid eggs, and for some of them, it hurts.
"Oh, what lovely eggs you've laid!"
The mother hens are very happy.
Only the young hen Carmela refuses to lay eggs.
"'Lay eggs!' 'Lay eggs!' Always asking us to lay eggs!"
She grumbles unhappily.
"There must be more interesting things to do in our lives!"
现在是下蛋的时间了！
这可是小鸡们第一次下蛋。看，有的疼得哇哇直哭。
“啊，多可爱的蛋呀！”鸡妈妈们高兴坏了。
只有小鸡卡梅拉拒绝下蛋。
“下蛋，下蛋，总是下蛋！”她生气地说，“生活中应该还有更好玩儿的事可做！”
"Let's call it a day, kids! Time to go to bed!"
Carmela orders the chicks with raised voice.
The chicks return to the chicken coop unwillingly.
"Look! I can see the shining teeth of the fox!"
"Thirty-seven, thirty-eight, thirty-nine," Carmela counts carefully.
Then she stops short, "Thirty-nine… One is missing! It must be that rascal again. Carmelito—where are you? Hurry back or a fox may eat you!"
“今天到此为止了，孩子们！快点回去睡觉！”卡梅拉扯开嗓门命令大家。
小鸡们很不情愿地往回走。
“快！我都看见狐狸闪光的牙齿啦！”
“37，38，39……”卡梅拉仔细地数着，“39……怎么少一个？又是那个淘气包。卡梅利多——你在哪儿？赶紧回来，小心狐狸吃了你！”
