Yesterday, during his official visit to China, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the Covestro Asia Pacific Innovation Hub in Shanghai. In collaboration with the client, HPP completed the conceptual planning of the first phase of this material technology campus, the development of innovative facades, and the design of new exhibition halls and canteen, creating a distinctive new corporate image.

In this project, the modern, superlight Makrolon® panels are mainly used on the facades. To activate their attributes as a controllable translucent filter, a colorful surface reflecting the corporate identity is visible behind. The introduction of large windows enhances spatial transparency, while shiny metal plates accentuate the doors and windows, optimizing facade proportions. The application of new insulation systems and Low-E glasses significantly enhance building energy efficiency, contributing to sustainable development.

Originally known as Bayer MaterialScience in Germany, Covestro is dedicated to providing material solutions which support zero-carbon and circular economies, closely aligning with China's dual carbon goals. During the visit, Covestro representatives provided Chancellor Scholz with a briefing on topics of his particular interest such as green building technologies, including new applications and solutions of ultra-low-energy buildings, etc.
Adhering to the same principles of sustainability, HPP consistently takes a comprehensive approach to project planning and design. In the implementation, we rely on five core criteria that are recognized by our clients as quality features: Integrated energy systems and the integration of renewable energies, low building operating costs, flexibility of use, conscious handling of materials (e.g. Cradle- to- Cradle ®) and longevity by quality architectural details.
